Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Trailer Xbox Game Pass Day One

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Sniper Rifles Have One-Shot Kill Potential

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be making some changes to weapons and balancing. Activision and developer Treyarch have confirmed a release date of 25 October for the title – the first time that a Call of Duty game will launch day one on Xbox Game Pass after Microsoft’s almost $70 billion acquisition of Bethesda. As for the changes and adjustments to weapons, Treyarch revealed that sniper rifles in Black Ops 6 will now have one-shot kill potential.

In a recent interview with VentureBeat, Treyarch associate design director Matt Scronce revealed that all the sniper rifles in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have one-shot kill potential from the torso and up. In past games’ multiplayer modes, it usually took 2-3 well-timed sniper shots to kill a player but this time, it might only take one bullet if you land your hit.

Since multiplayer allows you to respawn after being killed, this brought into question whether the battle royale game Warzone, where you only have one life, will also include one-shot kill sniper rifles in a future update. Scronce stated, “We’re all very aware of what we’re doing. There’s a goal of consistency, but there’s also a goal of doing what’s right for each experience.”

Understandably, having one-shot sniper rifles in Warzone could upset many players since being shot at a distance by a sniper usually means you have one or two more shots to recover and retaliate accordingly. Without it, matches might move at a faster pace and eliminate a lot of strategy that players use right now.

In related news, Black Ops 6 will require a constant internet connection to play all of the content available, even the single-player campaign. This is a rather strange move on Activision’s part as previous games in the series let players enjoy the campaign offline.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on 25 October 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
