Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was announced during this month’s Xbox Games Showcase, marking the seventh installment in the long-running Call of Duty series. While details are still unknown until publisher Activision and developer Treyarch host an official stream, screenshots and two new modes have leaked ahead of schedule.
As revealed by CharlieINTEL, a handful of new screenshots for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 have appeared online after an internal developer message accidentally went live on the Xbox Call of Duty app. The screenshots not only give us a good look at the new characters and futuristic weapons but also sheds light on the two new modes: Overload and a new Skirmish 20v20 mode.
The two new modes are described:
- New Skirmish 20v20 mode: “Two teams of 20 fight to complete objectives across a large map. Capture points of interest, destroy payloads, and transmit valuable data to score. Use your wingsuit to flank and reach objectives before your enemy.”
- New Overload mode: “Two teams of 6 players each fight to control a neutral EMP device that must be delivered to the enemy HQ for score. Reach the score limit and claim victory by delivering multiple EMP devices.”
The first details for Black Ops 7 were released by Treyarch earlier this year, confirming that the new entry will once again feature a futuristic setting with a co-op campaign. It’s set in the year 2035, ten years after Black Ops 2 eight years before Black Ops 4. Wall-running and jetpacks will also make a return (the leaked screenshots confirm jetpacks). Additionally, fans can also expect round based zombies and a variety of new multiplayer maps.
As of writing, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 doesn’t have a release date yet but we can expect it to launch sometime around October/November, as is tradition with every annual release in the franchise.
