Activision revealed details on the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer last night. However, shrouded in the new game modes and maps, PS5 details were also revealed. According to the blog post, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on the PS5 runs at 4K, supports up to 120FPS and includes exclusive features that make use of the DualSense Controller and Pulse Headset.
Treyarch shared information on the upcoming game’s next-gen support. First off we have the engine. The game includes a load of fancy next-gen features. This includes a new lighting engine that allows for photogrammetry-captured environments and characters, photometric lighting, and a high-dynamic-range, 4K experience on next-gen consoles and PC. According to Activision, By measuring ighting accurately it allows full light fixtures to create a natural lighting solutions in the game.
When it comes to the audio, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War includes 3D audio support for next-gen and PC. The PS5 version comes with HRTF audio support for the console’s fancy 3D technology. According to Activision, these new audio systems help communicate where the danger is coming from at all times.
When it comes to performance, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players can expect the game to run at 120Hz on PS5 (we already confirmed the same for Xbox Series X). In addition, the game supports reduced input latency and hardware-based ray-tracing and a 4K 60FPS mode.
Activision claims the PS5 is able to deliver a unique experience thanks to the HRTF 3D Audio alongside the haptic feedback on the controller. However, expect more news in the coming months.
