A teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, is reportedly coming on 30 April, according to a leaker. The next entry in the first-person shooter franchise was already confirmed by Activision back in February, so a reveal planned for this month or next seems likely.
According to leaker RalphsValve, Activision and developer Infinity Ward will begin teasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on 30 April, at least based on a countdown the leaker recently posted. The full reveal will then likely happen in May. The leaker also claimed last year that the next entry will see the return of characters such as Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, General Shepard, and Roach.

Activision confirmed Modern Warfare 2 in February, alongside news that Warzone will be getting a new map, designed from the “ground-up”. The new map is described as an “evolution of battle royale”, with a new sandbox mode also included.
Following Microsoft’s massive acquisition of Activision Blizzard and plans to restructure annual release schedules, it’s believed that Modern Warfare 2 will be the last Call of Duty game to get an annualised release. According to Bloomberg, Treyarch’s Call of Duty entry will then be pushed to 2024, leaving the first gap year in the franchise’s history.
Earlier reports suggest that Modern Warfare 2 will take gore to the next level, putting an emphasis on its violence as well as being “gritty and unrelenting”. The same could be argued about its predecessor, the first Modern Warfare game, though Infinity Ward is seemingly shooting for greater heights this time.
As with all leaks and rumours, take this with a grain of salt until we have confirmation from Infinity Ward or Activision.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently in development.
