While more and more studios are happy to leave PS4 and Xbox One behind as they embrace bigger, better-looking games, some studios still want to make more money and that means porting a game to all platforms. Of course, Activision likely didn’t think twice when it came to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The game is headed to both PS4 and Xbox One when it launches in November.
According to retail listings and digital stores, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One. At first, fans assumed it would drop last-gen hardware. Granted, this is now the fourth game in the COD series since PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launched. So it was only a guess that Activision would move onto the current-gen and leave PS4 and Xbox One behind.

The original teaser trailer was also listed on the PlayStation YouTube channel under “PS4 and PS5 Games” so again, this confirmed the launch. Since the announcement went live, Microsoft has also updated the official Xbox web store to list Xbox One as a platform.
We don’t know much about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as it stands. We know the game was originally meant to be DLC added onto Modern Warfare 2. However, reports claim the content grew too large and Activision decided to release it as a full $70 game instead.
The publisher is expected to do a full reveal of Modern Warfare 3 in the weeks ahead. The game has been leaked several times already. So much so that even Monster Energy leaked the official artwork before Activision.
Apart from confirming that Makarov will be the new villain in the game, little else is known about the game’s story. Activision has confirmed that most content will transfer over from Modern Warfare 2 but details have yet to be shared on that. The company will release the first of many reveals for the game starting this week on 17 August during a special Warzone event. The game is expected to launch on 10 November. The beta is also launching first on PlayStation platforms.
