Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on PS5 Doesn’t Have Platinum Trophy

The PS5 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 apparently doesn’t have a Platinum trophy. New details reveal that the PS4 version of the upcoming shooter does include the Platinum but for some reason, Modern Warfare 3 on PS5 is listed as DLC for Modern Warfare 2 and doesn’t contain the ultimate achievement.

As reported by PowerPyx, looking over the trophy list for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on PS5 reveals that it’s actually listed under DLC for last year’s Modern Warfare 2 and as such, doesn’t contain its own Platinum trophy. Confusingly, the PS4 version of the game is listed as its own, standalone product with a Platinum. This only adds more fuel to the rumours that Modern Warfare 3 started development as an expansion to last year’s game before morphing into a standalone release.

Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games will likely address this issue before the game launches next week so it’s not a permanent problem for all you trophy hunters out there. It seems like someone simply forgot to list the PS5 version as its own standalone product. Players were quick to point out that Modern Warfare 3 was, after all, just DLC for Modern Warfare 2 – at least at one point in development. To be fair, we don’t know how much has changed in the game since this decision was made so we’ll have to wait for the full release to judge it.

In other news, read up on the PC system requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as well as the launch times. After Activision Blizzard was acquired by Microsoft, Xbox boss Phil Spencer assured players that platform-exclusive betas for the Call of Duty franchise will no longer be an issue. In the past, PlayStation held exclusivity deals for early access to new entries.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on 10 November 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Make sure you check out our South African pre-order guide with the various editions you can buy.
