Activision really churned out quite a dumpster fire of a Call of Duty game this year as Modern Warfare 3 marks the series’ lowest point in history. To catch you up, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was originally planned as DLC to Modern Warfare 2. It was panned out to be a much smaller piece of content which would essentially cost less and deliver new multiplayer maps and an extension to the single-player campaign. However, as greedy publishers go, Activision decided to sell Modern Warfare 3 as a full R1500 game.
Now that the experience is in the hands of gamers and media (who weren’t part of the sponsored streamer army promoting MW3), the title isn’t doing too great. According to its Metacritic score, Modern Warfare 3 is now sitting as the lowest-reviewed game in the series and in fact, one of the lowest-reviewed games of recent years too.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is currently sitting below some rather controversial games of 2023 including The Lords of the Rings: Gollum, Forspoken and Redfall. Keep in mind that this 54% represents citric scores. When it comes to the user score, Modern Warfare 3 is sitting with an abysmal 1.4/10.
The proof is in the pudding here. As long as gamers keep accepting trash, they will get served trash. Activision has proven this year that quality no longer matters when it comes to Call of Duty. They expect gamers to spend money on the game regardless. Even if the experience is an R1500 package of rehashed nonsense.
