Infinity Ward and Activision will release a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update today (8 November) that will bring two new Modern Warfare free maps as well as a new game mode, Hardpoint to the game. Earlier this week, we reported on an update for the game that is in the works, from weapon balancing to fixes as well as the second round of footstep volume tuning. Now, it looks like these changes could make it to the game with the Modern Warfare free maps and game mode.

Since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare doesn’t have a Season Pass, everyone will be able to enjoy the free maps, namely the new 6v6 map Shoot House and the Ground War map Krovnik Farmland. These maps alongside the Hardpoint game mode will be available on all platforms starting today. At the time of writing, the update has not released just yet, but it should release during the course of the day for South African players.
In all likelihood, the Modern Warfare free maps and game mode will arrive in the same update as the balance changes, as Infinity Ward’s community manager, Ashton Williams, noted on Twitter two days ago that these will arrive in the next few days.
Pending any unexpected issues, we’ve got an update rolling out over the next few days that improves stability across all platforms, fixes bugs, weapon tuning, footsteps, claymores, and more.

It is great to see Infinity Ward and Activision releasing the first content update so quickly and we can’t wait to play on the new maps, as the game is definitely a step up from the annual CoD releases.
