Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Officially Announced

Infinity Ward has officially announced the next instalment in the Call of Duty series. As everyone predicted, this year’s Call of Duty game is Modern Warfare II. Infinity Ward shared a teaser on Twitter with the caption saying “The new era of Call of Duty is coming”.

The teaser video starts off with a map that blinks green until showing a very brief badge for Task Force 141. There’s nothing else in the trailer whatsoever. Usually, Activision would follow up with a reveal date but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s full reveal is unclear.

This announcement is also quite early in the year. Considering the past few games were only announced in August, especially Vanguard and Black Ops: Cold War, seeing this announcement in April is a change in direction for the studio. It also means that Activision seems to be back on track with its game releases after COVID-19 forced the studio to delay these announcements.

It is also important to note that this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is not to be confused with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This game is the sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare game and not the 2009 game. Yes, Activision has already released a Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare II so it seems that the company has officially run out of Call of Duty game names.

But never fear, the previous Modern Warfare game was actually quite good so this is great news for COD fans. After. being completely let down by Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, it is about damn time too. Sure, it isn’t Ghosts II but hey.

We will keep you updated on the official reveal for the game as soon as we hear more. In the meantime, you can watch the teaser images a few dozen times.
