Activision and Infinity Ward are making some tough promises by committing to a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare experience without loot boxes and supply crates. The latest announcement claims the game will feature a battle pass instead of loot boxes and supply crates and the system will work as other battle passes found in games like Fortnite and PUBG.

Activision announced on a new blog post that it will be introducing this new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Pass system instead of a loot boxes even after reports and leaks suggested the game would indeed include supply crates.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle pass will see players earn rewards for playing the game and completing in-game objectives. The more you complete, the further the progress will move in the pass and you will unlock rewards for specific tiers you reach.
It will work like any traditional battle pass whereas players will see the content which is unlockable and they will need to rank their way up the pass to get there. Activision also revealed that the game will receive multiple Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Pass variants throughout the months ahead;

Battle Passes will launch timed to new, post-launch live seasons, so you can unlock cool new Modern Warfare-themed content that matches each season[/perfectpullquote]
Activision also claims the Battle Pass will not include any “functional content” that impacts the game such as new weapons and attachments. Instead, these items will be unlocked by progressing through the game normally and battle pass will feature cosmetic items that “does not impact game balance“.
The pass will not be available at launch on 25 October 2019. Instead, it will release later this year after the developers have taken into account the game’s economy and player feedback.
Activision and Infinity Ward claim the game will not feature loot boxes at all but we will have to see how this all plays out. Past Call of Duty games did not launch with its in-game purchase feature unlocked and within a few weeks, Activision patched it in making it possible to purchase loot boxes that contained weapons and attachments. Even though they claim this year will be different, just watch out.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on 25 October 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
