The last Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game was the third entry in the series. You would think that after three comes four? Well, that is not the case. It seems that Activision is taking the Call of Duty series back to its roots with a “soft reboot” they will call just “Modern Warfare”.
According to YouTuber LongSensation, Activision has been showing the game to press and “influencers” for a few weeks now. The name “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” has been popping up a lot in reports of these private viewing sessions. Many sources revealing the game is indeed a “soft reboot” of the original Modern Warfare.
The game is said to feature “dark troubling and realistically emotional moments”. Much of the game will be inspired by the controversial No Russian campaign in Modern Warfare 2 which saw you participate in a mass shooting.
Although none of this has been confirmed yet, the reports make sense. Black Ops 4 was well-recieved but it died off quite fast due to its heavy focus on multiplayer. We had our own fair share of server issues with the Blackout mode that affected hundreds of owners ability to play the game.
Activision is reportedly set to start revealing the new Call of Duty this coming week. We have hands-on time at E3 booked for the game so we will share as much as we can.
