Call of Duty to Get a Squid Game Crossover in January

The Call of Duty franchise continues its exploration of unexpected crossovers and this time, it’s in the form of the hit Netflix series, Squid Game. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone will receive this crossover in January across all platforms, timing it with the arrival of season 2 of the Netflix series on 26 December this year.

Activision released a teaser trailer for the Squid Game crossover coming to Call of Duty in January. It shows a soldier picking up the infamous card with the show’s symbols on it, teasing that he’s been entered into the deadly competition. Beyond that, not much is known about this crossover or what it will add to the franchise. Some fans speculate that it will add new maps designed after the show’s levels while others think it will merely be cosmetics like outfits or weapons.

The crossover will be coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone sometime in January but no specific release date was mentioned.

In addition to the Call of Duty crossover, Netflix also plans to release a new mobile game called Squid Game Unleashed (available exclusively on the Netflix app). Described as a multiplayer party royale game, players will be able to form teams or compete against them, earning money along the way to customise your avatar as you take on increasingly deadlier games. The description provided by Netflix reads:

“Like the hit dystopian thriller series it’s named after, Squid Game: Unleashed takes classic children’s games and puts a dark spin on them. Team up with friends or compete against up to 32 players for the ultimate prize: survival. You’ll earn money along the way to customize your avatar and advance through tougher and tougher challenges as you make your way up the tournament ranks.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
