Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was a remarkable game when it came to its visuals. It was the first Call of Duty to release on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last year. So players got to see higher resolutions and frame rates alongside enhanced textures and visuals. However, even with the current-gen console release, the developers were most likely held back by the timely development cycle getting the game ready for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. By the sound of things, this year’s Call of Duty: Vanguard is going to take things to the next level thanks to the focus being on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
According to insiders who have seen Call of Duty: Vanguard running on the PS5 in a special campaign mission, the game is looking good. So much so that some of them claim it could be one of the best-looking games on PS5.

Reliable source Tom Henderson spoke out on Twitter regarding the game’s visuals. He claims to have seen the campaign running on PS5. According to Henderson, he has seen quite a bit of the campaign specific to a mission before the D-Days landings. He says:
“I’ve just watched a campaign mission of #Vanguard on the PS5 – And it’s probably one of the best-looking games on current-gen consoles. It’s a bold statement to make, but it looks beautiful.”
“Even for a mission set on the night before the D-Day landings, it looks very crisp. No “grey wash” that we typically see in Call of Duty.
Another source confirmed Henderson’s statement saying the campaign is a thing of beauty. According to The Ghost of Hope, the demo they saw was running at 1080p and looked crisp.
While this is great news for new console owners, at the same time it doesn’t sound too great for PS4 and Xbox One owners. This year’s release of Call of Duty: Vanguard is going to really suck all the juice out of these eight-year-old consoles and to be honest, I don’t see how this hardware is going to keep up anymore. Even Warzone is looking a bit rough on these consoles.
Keep in mind that this statement is someone’s opinion so don’t get all hot and bothered if you disagree. However, you need to remember that the Call of Duty series has always managed to set the standard for first-person shooters when it comes to graphics and performance. This yea’s Call of Duty: Vanguard on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S might break boundaries.
Activision is set to announce Call of Duty: Vanguard later today. You can watch the announcement live in Call of Duty Warzone at 19:30 CAT. Expect trailers to drop around the same time on YouTube and social media. We will have the full announcement coverage ready too.
