After months of leaks, Activision officially announced its newest free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone. The best part about the news, is that will be available today for owners of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and for those that don’t own the game, it will be live four hours after the global launch at 17:00 today.
How to Download Call of Duty: Warzone
It may sound complicated at first but it is rather simple. If you own Modern Warfare, Warzone will be included in an update which will roll out this afternoon at 17:00 South African time. If you don’t own the game, the free-to-play Call of Duty battle royale will go up on your respective platform of choice’s store at 21:00 South African time. This means that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare owners will get 4 hours early access to the game.
Keep in mind that the update and standalone download is going to be quite a hefty one. The Warzone update will come in at somewhere between 18GB and 22GB for Modern Warfare. That is if you have the latest update already installed. If you are redownloading the game, you are looking at 80GB to 101GB. Once updated, the “Classified” panel on the home screen will change to Call of Duty: Warzone.
If you don’t own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, you will then need to download the package which also contains Modern Warfare’s content and the new free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale. However, everything but Warzone will be locked with the option to purchase it separately. This also means the download is going to be around 80GB to 101GB.
