Activision has reached a new milestone with the brand-new free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone. The game has been played by over 6 million players within the first 24 hours of being live across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Activision announced the news through the official Call of Duty account on Twitter celebrating the game’s success.

Call of Duty: Warzone was announced on Monday, 9 March and released the next day after months of leaks and reports surfaced about the battle royale. The game stands apart from other battle royale shooters like Fortnite and Apex Legends due to its features like the Gulag which allows eliminated players battle another player in an intense 1V1 for a chance at a second life and the ability to revive back into the game.

But with the success of Call of Duty: Warzone comes the fear of it fizzling out. We hope Activision can keep the game as exciting as Epic Games does with Fortnite. Weekly challenges, new themed seasons and fresh content keep the community going back to the game. If Warzone cannot offer the same experience, players may jump ship after a few weeks of fighting it out on the massive new map.
