Call of Duty will be getting its own standalone battle royale game next month according to a report. The game, which was meant to launch in January, will release as a free-to-play game to compete with the likes of Fortnite and Apex Legends. According to the development sources, Call of Duty: Warzone has suffered unforeseen delays but should release in early March. Some say the game will drop on 10 March 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Sources claim that Activision will start marketing the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale this week by inviting a select few streamers and content creators to attend a preview of the game and record footage for later use. The game will have a speedy rollout as it will be announced and released after a couple of days.
According to sources, the game will be a standalone free-to-play title as well as released as an update to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare where players can either launch the mode inside Modern Warfare or if they don’t own the game, download it and install it separately. Players that don’t own the full Modern Warfare will also be given the option to purchase an “upgrade” to unlock the full Modern Warfare game.
Call of Duty Warzone will act as a major game mode in the series alongside the multiplayer, Special Ops, Zombie Mode, and single-player campaign. This could be the route Activision goes for all future titles by including a battle royale mode in the package every year.
From what we understand, Call of Duty: Warzone will be available for free or via Modern Warfare. It will support up to 200 players in a single match, a squad-based players system, dedicated pin mechanics and new in-game killstreaks. The map will be made up of popular locations from Modern Warfare all compiled into one giant location including the Boneyard, Port, Gulag and more.
One interesting twist in the gameplay will see dead players respawn in the Gulag prison for a chance to compete to respawn on the battlefield. Players will wait for their chance to compete in a 1v1 battle against another player and the winner will reenter the map.
