Capcom says that the missing raytracing features in Resident Evil 2 and 3 on Steam have been removed by accident. In fact, the developer doesn’t know how it happened.
Last week, we reported that both Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake lost their ray tracing features to some random event. The games also lost 3D audio support on Steam too. Capcom says it is aware of the issue.

In a statement, the developer says it is working on an update to bring back all the features which have seemingly vanished in the games. However, as Capcom addresses some missing features, new ones are popping up. The latest seems to be HDR. Players report that HDR in both games isn’t working as expected.
So the list now includes ray tracing, 3d audio and HDR which all need repairs. Thankfully, Capcom says it is on the case. Users can also roll back an update on the PC version of Resident Evil 3 to a game version which didn’t have these issues. This method was used last year to fix some nasty problems gamers faced with Resident Evil 3.
1. Click LIBRARY in Steam client.
2. Right-click the game and select “”Properties…””
3. In the pop-up menu, select “”BETAS””
4. From the pull-down menu, select “”dx11_non-rt”” (Note: password not required)
5. Close the pop-up menu and let the Steam client auto-update the game
6. You should be able to launch the game normally once the update completes
7. Please note some of the in-game option settings will be reset as a result of the rollback process.
If you would like to update the game to the new version again, simply select “”None”” from the pull-down menu in Step 4 above.
To all Resident Evil 2 / Resident Evil 3 users on Steam ⚠️
We’re aware of an ongoing issue with the raytracing option not appearing in the graphics menu and presets. We’ll have this addressed in a future update and apologize for any inconvenience! pic.twitter.com/hGkOey65mQ
