Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt Red Multiplayer Mode Scrapped

CD Projekt Red Delays Massive Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3

CD Projekt Red has delayed the massive update 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077 in order to give the team more time to work on the new content. The update was set to arrive on 26 June but the studio put out a statement on social media yesterday confirming that it will now arrive at a later, unannounced date instead.

CD Projekt Red aims to make update 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077 around the same scope as update 2.2, which added a ton of new content to the game including over 122 new character customisation options, photo mode, vehicle customisation and more. Virtuos Studios, which recently took the spotlight thanks to its work on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, is rumoured to be working on update 2.3 (the studio also worked on update 2.2).

The statement provided by CD Projekt Red about update 2.3’s delay reads:

“We initially hoped to put Update 2.3 in your hands on June 26. However, we’ll need some more time to make sure we’re happy with it — we’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll update you further as soon as we can! We appreciate your patience!”

So far, nothing has been revealed about what we can expect from update 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077. Fans speculate that we’ll likely get a lot more customisation options again along with possible new weapons and side quests. However, others believe it could be a smaller-scale update that adds little to the overall experience. After all, Cyberpunk 2077 is nearly four years old now and CD Projekt Red are focused on the game’s sequel in addition to The Witcher 4.

When update 2.3 launches, it will be available on consoles and PC (it doesn’t seem like you’ll need the Phantom Liberty expansion to enjoy all the content, but we could be wrong). In the meantime, if you own a Nintendo Switch 2, the good news is that Cyberpunk 2077 is available on the hybrid console right now and it runs amazingly well.
