Chainsaw Man, arguably the most anticipated anime of the year, finally has a release date of 11 October 2022. The anime will stream its first episode on Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime Video and will run for 12 episodes. This could make up its first season as the manga source material features over 90 chapters and plenty of content to adapt.
The official Chainsaw Man Twitter account recently shared the news that fans can look forward to the anticipated anime from acclaimed studio MAPPA this October. The anime is being adapted from the popular manga from Tatsuki Fujimoto and tells the story of a down-on-his-luck teenager named Denji who inherits the supernatural powers of a devil that turns his body into chainsaws. Denji joins a government organisation tasked with tracking down the Gun Devil, the world’s most feared entity.

Fujimoto’s manga is both a violent spectacle as well as a great slice of social commentary about societal fears and obsessions. The anime will be helmed by MAPPA, which previously animated popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan: The Final Season and The God of High School, among others.
As revealed by Anime News Network, the English dub cast will include Ryan Colt Levy as Denji, Suzie Yeung as Makima, Sarah Wiedenheft as Power and Reagan Murdock as Aki.
Crunchyroll describes the story of Chainsaw Man:
“Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita. One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man”–a man with a devil’s heart.”
Chainsaw Man will begin airing on 11 October 2022 with streaming available on Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime Video. Check out the latest trailer below.
