The film takes place before the events of Roald Dahl’s critically acclaimed book and ties into the original 1971 Gene Wilder Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film. David Heyman, who produced Paddington and worked on the Harry Potter movies is working alongside Luke Kelly on the production team. Kelly was originally part of Dahl’s The Witches and Matilda. Both are classic films from back in the 90s.
