Christopher Nolan Oppenheimer Teaser Trailer

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer Debuts First Teaser Trailer

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming biopic, Oppenheimer, has appeared online a full year ahead of its release. The Christopher Nolan film, which documents theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer’s life leading to the Manhattan Project and the creation of the atomic bomb, is set to arrive in cinemas on 21 July 2023 and features a massive cast.

The teaser trailer for Oppenheimer offers a bit of narration and imagery of explosions, also seemingly confirming that at least some portions of it, for the first time ever, will be shot in IMAX black and white. Besides that, we have little to go on but expect the film to cover a few key historical events, particularly surrounding the tragic outcome of the atomic bomb’s creation and its usage.

Oppenheimer will be written and directed by Christopher Nolan, best known for The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar and Tenet. Peaky Blinders‘ Cillian Murphy will star in the titular role alongside Hollywood actors such as Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Gary Oldman, Casey Affleck and Josh Hartnett, among many others.

The film is based off of the book ‘American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer’ by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.

Oppenheimer was originally planned to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures for a simultaneous release in cinemas and on HBO Max in 2021, but Nolan opted out of this, choosing Universal Pictures as a distributor instead. The film’s budget is reportedly around $100 million, which is relatively low given the director’s tendency to have massive budgets for previous works like The Dark Knight Rises‘ $250 million budget or Tenet‘s $205 million.

Oppenheimer is set to release exclusively in cinemas on 21 July 2023. Check out the brand new teaser trailer below.
