Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Trailer Xbox Game Pass Day One

COD MW2 and MW3 Content Won’t Carry Over to Black Ops 6

Say goodbye to your Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj skins because if you’re picking up Call of Duty Black Ops 6, you won’t be able to use any of your purchased content from Modern Warfare 2 or 3.

Activision confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is a new instalment in the COD series and not a sequel this time around. As a result, the game’s content is exclusive to this one package.

Fans have both embraced and complained about the news. Some fans say they are glad Activision is dropping support for last year’s skins in BO6 because they want a “new game”. One user says that carrying over content from Modern Warfare 3 will make Black Ops 6 feel “like an expansion”.

“I don’t want to see Minaj doing a finishing move on Gundam on day one. It would make the game feel like an expansion.”

Another player says that Modern Warfare 2 and 3’s content is now “dated” and needs to be dropped in order to make way for a new experience.

One gamer says this is actually nothing new in the series and gamers should be used to this by now. They claim that MW2 and MW3 were rare exceptions to the rule given how MW3 was a so-called “expansion”.

“Welcome to Call of Duty? I swear most of you joined this game with MW2 and don’t know how “actual” cod works. Every year CoD would release a new game and nothing would carry over. This was going on for YEARS. Even with Warzone. You would only keep your skins in Warzone and not in MP side. This only happened with MW3. Carry Forward was never a thing before. And yes it’s a shitty system. Look at Fortnite. 10 Years going in, they only update 1 game and u keep everything. If MP treated the same it would’ve been amazing! But sadly not. So don’t be surprised if your stuff is not there in BO6. And yeah it’s not “ODD” its just Activision.”

Of course, Activision has teased players that some current skin packs like the Nicki Minaj content might make an appearance in Black Ops 6 sometime in the future. We don’t know if you’ll need to pay for this again though. Activision will likely release “new” versions of the skin packs so they can re-sell them to fans.

It goes without saying that Warzone content still remains in Warzone. So whatever you own there isn’t going anywhere. But if you splurged on Modern Warfare 2 and 3 exclusive content, you’ll need to play those games to use it.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is expected to launch on 25 October for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game is launching on day one through Game Pass so you don’t need to buy the shooter if you’re a subscriber. It was also confirmed that BO6 will require a constant internet connection even for the single-player campaign.
