Concord PvP Multiplayer Shooter PS5 PC

Concord’s Launch Weekend Was Abysmal

Concord launched on Friday for those who didn’t purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition and the game could have had one of the worst release weekends we have ever seen for a triple-A project. So much so that Concord struggled to beat other “deemed-failed” games this past weekend when it came to player counts.

On PC, Concord had fewer players in the game than the peak player count for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The shooter amassed only 697 players at its peak compared to 2023’s worst game at 758 players. For the past 48 hours, Concord has remained under 300 players.

But the low player count isn’t the only concern. Concord’s user reviews have also been a highlight as many of them are sitting with negative feedback and refunds. Some players have refunded the game due to the concern over the low player count. Given it is a multiplayer shooter, it relies on people playing the game. Other players have described Concord as “lifeless”.

Some reviews say the asking price of $40 is not worth it when there are better free-to-play shooters that are a copy-and-paste of Concord. Not all are bad though as some reviews are positive too. Some players praise the game’s fluid shooting and unique characters.

Of course, this doesn’t speak of the PS5 experience. There’s no way to see how many players are in the game on the console version. Sony’s PC games have shown some unpredictable growth in the past. Some games skyrocket into the million-player count while others bomb. However, given the negative sentiment surrounding Concord, I highly doubt PS5 gamers have spent $40 on it.

At the moment, there’s no bright future in sight for Concord. The game that took eight years to develop deserved better. Sadly, gamers have chosen with their wallets and have avoided the generic-looking shooter. Fire Walk Studios does plan on supporting the game for years.
