Remedy’s Control is no doubt the sleeper hit of 2019, combining a fascinating story with excellent combat and exploration, not to mention that it looks fantastic. Our review was done on the PS4 Pro and we had no performance issues at all, but the game doesn’t have HDR support. On base consoles, Control performance issues do emerge, with reports of FPS drops into the low 20’s. Remedy plans to address performance issues and more for those on the standard PS4 and Xbox One, but it will take some time.

Remedy revealed what they are working on, including Control performance issues, in a new post. First off, the developer thanked players for an excellent launch week, before getting into what they are working on. For those on PC, RTX issues are mostly solved by having the latest version of Windows 10 installed.
As part of the next Control update, Remedy will give players on all platforms the option to turn off Motion Blur and Film Grain. Then, the developer is also working on ways to improve how the in-game map loads, as sometimes the map doesn’t load properly. On the topic of HDR for the game, the developer announced that HDR will not make it into Control at all, as they will be focusing their resources on future free content updates for the game, including a Photo Mode.
Most importantly for those on base PS4 and Xbox One consoles, Remedy explains that they are looking to improve optimization for Control, but it will take some time.

We are also examining specific issues that some players have been experiencing and looking for fixes on those. When we have more info, we will be sure to let you know across our community channels.[/perfectpullquote]
Lastly, the developer will share more information on future content plans for the game next week.
