Cory Barlog Reiterates No More God of War Ragnarok Delays

God of War Ragnarok developer Sony Santa Monica Studio has, once again, reiterated that the game will have no delays. Producer Cory Barlog took to Twitter to reassure fans that the highly anticipated PlayStation exclusive, which is set to launch later this year, will not go through any delays following more internet speculation surfacing recently.

Barlog asked fans to “be cool” when addressing the rumours surrounding another potential delay for God of War Ragnarok. The game was originally meant to release in 2021, but went through a delay that pushed it back to November 2022. After Ragnarok‘s reveal last year, Santa Monica Studio went quiet as it doubled down on the game’s development. This sparked plenty of conversations online about whether or not the game would be delayed further into 2023.

That doesn’t seem to be the case, according to Barlog. Sony set a 9 November 2022 release date a few weeks ago and it looks like the developer is remaining firm on that target.

God of War Ragnarok is the concluding chapter in the two-part Norse saga of the new God of War series. It will once again follow Kratos and his son Atreus as they venture through the Norse realm of Midgard, encountering the pantheon of Norse gods in the process including Thor and Odin.

Previous reports suggested that Ragnarok once began as expanded story content for the 2018 game before becoming a full-fledged sequel. Barlog, who served as the director on the first game, will take a step back from directing duties on the sequel which will instead be helmed by studio veteran Eric Williams. Barlog will take on a producer role on Ragnarok.

God of War Ragnarok is currently in development for PS4 and PS5 and releases on 9 November 2022.
