Crash Bandicoot Developer Toys for Bob is Teasing a New Game

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and Spyro Reignited Trilogy developer Toys for Bob is teasing a new game. The studio recently posted an image on social media showing all of its past projects in a glass frame. In total, 17 are shown with the 18th frame covered in question marks, suggesting that it’s gearing up to make an announcement soon.

Toys for Bob and publisher Activision notably worked on Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and created the popular Skylanders franchise. Past works also include video game adaptations of the Madagascar animated movies, Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam and Pandemonium.

In addition to developing several family-friendly games, Toys for Bob also assisted in the development of Overwatch as well as the Tony Hawk’s and Call of Duty franchises, among others. Last year, Activision denied claims that Toys for Bob had suffered any layoffs. Instead, the studio was shifted to a new role developing content for Call of Duty: Warzone.

However, previous reports suggested that the company was quietly working on its next major game, which many fans believe could be Crash Bandicoot 5. The Crash Bandicoot series was originally developed by Naughty Dog for the original PlayStation before the IP was purchased by Activision and made multi-platform. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time aimed to create a more direct sequel to Naughty Dog’s last title in the series, Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped.

In related news, Activision Blizzard will release two anticipated games later this year. Overwatch 2 will arrive as a free-to-play title in October, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is also scheduled to release in October.

As for when we can expect the new game announcement from Toys for Bob, the most logical upcoming event would be Gamescom Opening Night Live. It’s possible that the game could also be announced at a PlayStation event or possibly at The Game Awards later this year.
