Crystal Dynamics Details Marvel’s Avengers PS5, Xbox Series X/S Enhancements

Crystal Dynamics plans on releasing the Marvel’s Avengers PS5 and Xbox Series X/S update on 18 March 2021. This means that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners can enjoy higher frame rates, improved texture quality and more. Crystal Dynamics recently showed off a very brief trailer that featured some enhanced visuals but even that told us nothing. The developer has now revealed a full breakdown of what to expect from the enhanced versions.

The Marvel’s Avengers PS5 and Xbox Series X/S enhancements include faster load times, improved frame rate, higher resolution textures, improved ambient occlusion, haptic feedback, higher-resolution translucency and more. The below graph details the PS5 features in comparison to the PS4 version.

As for the Xbox Series X/S version, the Marvel’s Avengers enhancements are sort of the same. Users will get improved frame rate, textures and more. However, Xbox Series S owners won’t be able to benefit from the higher-resolution textures due to the console’s power restrictions. Below is a graph detailing these enhancements:

Interestingly enough, the enhancements don’t include ray-tracing at all. The developer originally claimed that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of Marvel’s Avengers would include the visual feature but it seems that have since backtracked on it. Users on the latest consoles will only get the screen-space reflections which are the same used on old-gen hardware.

Regardless, the performance of Marvel’s Avengers on PS4 and Xbox one was not up to standard anyway. The game suffered from some major frame rate drops, freezes and texture issues. Hopefully, that is all eliminated in the new version. Check out the trailer down below:
