Crytek, the studio behind the Crysis series has listed a new job position for an “unannounced AAA” game. The Technical Director job post requires someone who is able to work on a new game in the Frankfurt studio in Germany. While details are scarce, this could be a new Crysis game as just earlier this week the Official Twitter account came back to life and posted its first tweet in over three years.

Usually, job descriptions hint at what the game could be but this one, unfortunately, does not. Our money is on either an original Crysis remake or a Crysis 4 release as both have been rumoured to be in development for a while now. Crytek first teased us by showing the original game’s beach during a CryEngine 5.6 tech demo reel a few months ago. Then the Twitter account came back to life. Whatever the studio is working on, it is no doubt a new Crysis game.
It has been a couple of years since we had a new game in the series. Crysis 3 release back in 2013 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC while the second game released two years before that. The original, which released in 2007 is still seen as one of the most hardware-intensive games on the market dubbing the phrase “can it run Crysis?”.
With the next-gen consoles on the horizon, releasing a Crysis 4 to showcase what the hardware is possible of would be a great move from Crytek. We have yet to see the new CryEngine 6 in action which according to rumours, is the engine running the new game the studio is working on.
