Like The Witcher games, Cyberpunk 2077 will also have its own set of difficulty options and while we don’t know much about the entry-level ones, we now know the hardest mode will be as “hardcore” as possible.

According to WCCFtech who chatted to the Cyberpunk 2077 UI coordinator Alvin Liu, the most fun you could have will be in the Hardcore mode where the game turns off the UI completely presenting the biggest challenge for players.

“Also, at the same time, if you want to play more casually for the story and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real big concern for us. We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that.”

Playing without the UI will make the game a much more immersive experience and CD Projekt RED also weapons to help make the “immersion” easier without throwing players in the deep end. Liu explained

“We even have weapons for that. If you recall from last year’s demo, we had a weapon called the smart gun, which helps you aim. The bullets were much slower and usually a bit weaker. But if your aiming isn’t your forte, you can always pick up the smart gun.”

Clearly, the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 are thinking about the players who want to experience the hardcore more and those that want the no-UI aspect of the hardcore mode but also don’t want to get destroyed by enemies.

Whatever you play style, the game will offer a setting to help make that possible and we are excited to see how detailed this system goes.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases on 16 April 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
