Cyberpunk 2077 Story DLC CD Projekt Red Gamescom 2022

Cyberpunk 2077 is Now Attracting 1 Million Players Daily

After one of the most notorious launches in video game history, Cyberpunk 2077 is making a big comeback. According to developer CD Projekt Red, the open-world action game is now attracting around 1 million players on a daily basis – an increase in players no doubt fueled by the recent massive 1.6 patch and the popularity of the Edgerunners Netflix anime.

CD Projekt Red announced the news on the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account recently, confirming that an average of a million players are actively playing the game each day, presumably across both consoles and PC. “Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning,” said the message. “We wanted to use this opportunity to thank you for being with us and playing the game.”

The substantial 1.6 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 added a number of improvements and features into the game, including the ability to now customise your character at any apartment mirror. The original game suffered from a lack of customisation options, especially with regards to changing the appearance and hairstyle of your V, so this is a welcomed addition.

The influx of players is likely a balance of newcomers who may have skipped out on the game’s initial launch and returning players who waited for the game to be properly fixed and updated.

In addition to Cyberpunk 2077 gaining some momentum, the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Egderunners from Trigger recently debuted its 10-episode run to glowing reviews, with many praising the anime’s attention to detail, interesting characters and exceptional world-building. A few Easter eggs from Edgerunners were even added into the game through the 1.6 patch, which eagle-eyed players will have to track down to find.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC with free upgrades available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game’s first and only story expansion, Phantom Liberty, will only be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
