Cyberpunk 2077 Lead Writer Leaves CDPR for Blizzard

Back in August last year, CD Projekt Red already revealed that the long-awaited and highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is playable from start to finish. Even so, CDPR wants Red Dead Redemption 2 level quality and polish on release day. This is probably why we still don’t have a solid release date for the game. That could also be the reason that the Cyberpunk 2077 lead writer, narrative and setting director, has left CDPR and now has a new position at Blizzard.

Work on the story and setting could very well be completely done for all we know. That’s why people shouldn’t instantly start thinking there is anything going wrong internally at CDPR. Instead, the Cyberpunk 2077 lead writer, Sebastian Stepien, might have just moved on to his next job.

As spotted by PC Gamer, Sebastian Stepien’s LinkedIn profile has been updated and he now works at Blizzard’s California office as a creative director. Sebastian also worked all the main Witcher games. Blizzard has definitely snatched up a brilliant creative director.

So what could Sebastian be working on over at Blizzard? Well, I, for one, think it could be Diablo 4, codenamed Fenris. Sebastian’s LinkedIn profile doesn’t specify the game he is working on. However, we recently reported that Blizzard is hiring a quest designer for a Diablo project. Since this position required experience working on consoles and PC, we can say with near certainty that it isn’t Diablo Immortal.

Basically, there’s nothing to worry about where Cyberpunk 2077 is concerned. Further, Cyberpunk 2077’s lead writer could very well be working on Diablo 4’s story right now.

What do you think about the Cyberpunk 2077 lead writer moving to Blizzard and do you think he is working on Diablo 4’s story? Let us know in the comment section below.
