Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has promised its investors that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S update is “on track” to launch during the first quarter of 2022. In fact, the studio has promised to launch the update this time saying they don’t expect any delay. The update, which was originally meant to release in the first half of this year was delayed to September 2021. CD Projekt Red then slipped the release date into 2022 after the studio failed to meet its “late 2021” release window.
CD Projekt Red also claim that The Witcher 3 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S enhanced update is also “on track” to release in the second quarter of 2022. The update was also meant to launch before the end of this year. However, it was delayed into 2022 in October when the studio announced that they needed more time with the content.

Cyberpunk 2077, a game that is almost a whole year old already, suffered from one of the most catastrophic launches in gaming history. The game was released to the public in an almost unplayable state. This was after CDPR delayed the project multiple times and promised fans it was running great, even on PS4. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Multiple hotfixes and large game updates haven’t been enough to fix the game’s numerous bugs and glitches.
Even with the rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold a truckload of copies. Mainly due to the ongoing sales for the game. During Black Friday, gamers could pick the game up for 50% off across Steam, the PlayStation Store and on Xbox. This pushed the game into the top-sellers list for the first time in months.
Hopefully, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S update is worth the wait. At the moment, the game is still underwhelming with mechanics that don’t work, quests that are bugged and mediocre visuals. Not to mention the world is bland and empty. Even a visual overhaul won’t fix the biggest issues in Cyberpunk 2077.
