Story DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 might be announced at Gamescom 2022, at least if that’s what developer CD Projekt Red is teasing on Twitter. The game’s official Twitter account recently tweeted “Wann Cyberpunk-Expansion?” which is German for “When is the expansion for Cyberpunk?”. Gamescom traditionally takes place in Cologne, Germany every year.
This is our biggest hint that CD Projekt Red is teasing story DLC finally arriving for Cyberpunk 2077 and it might be revealed at Gamescom this year. All signs point to Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, a live event that will kick off Gamescom 2022. The event usually features plenty of new game reveals, updates and more.

Cyberpunk 2077 released in late 2020 to mostly positive reviews, though it was met with plenty of scrutiny from fans and critics. Most players reported terrible performance on the PS4 and Xbox One versions, including hefty framerate drops, crashes, numerous bugs and corrupted files. The game’s review process was also criticised as CD Projekt Red intentionally only sent out PC codes for the game in an effort to mask the console version’s performance issues before launch.
The Polish developer has since attempted to rectify the game’s errors through patches and fixes, but most of the damage had already been done, especially to the studio’s reputation in the aftermath of its release.
However, the studio promised that Cyberpunk 2077 would eventually receive story expansions and it looks like that might be coming soon. Despite its technical issues, the game had potential for expanded story content considering the base game’s narrative was, for the most part, pretty solid.
In related news, CD Projekt Red is also currently working on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades for The Witcher 3 while also developing the series’ next major entry.
