CD Projekt RED won’t be releasing the anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.2 this month. The developer announced on Twitter that due to the recent ransomware hack on the company, things aren’t going as planned. It is understandable to a certain point. Earlier this month a so-called ex-actor hacked into CD Projekt RED and stole source code for games such as The Witcher 3, Gwent and more.
After the attack, the source code was uploaded online and sold at auction on the dark web. Each game reportedly amassed over a million dollars each. Although the buyer’s identities are still unknown.
Not only is CD Projekt RED trying to fix one of the biggest disasters in gaming history but the company has also had to deal with the recent attack. In a statement, CD Projekt RED says that the Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.2 will bring with it numerous overall quality improvements and fixes.
While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this unfortunately will not happen — we’ll need some additional time. 1/3
Of course, the news of the Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.2 delay has sparked some rather nasty feedback online. Gamers have expressed their anger against the developer for firstly releasing a product that was not up to standard and secondly taking too long to fix it. Some comments are asking CD Projekt RED how they went from creating the masterpiece like The Witcher 3 to making Cyberpunk 2077.

Other gamers are calling out CD Projekt RED for seeking money over quality and instead of delaying the game, they released it broken. It is the same story in every post they put up.
All we can do right now is hope that by the end of the year, Cyberpunk 2077 is something worthwhile. We have two substantial updates coming our way and a next-gen enhancement upgrade. Let’s see how it goes.
