Cyberpunk 2077 Weapon Types, Rarities and Mods Revealed

In addition to the three lifepaths revealed during last night’s Night City Wire, developer CD Projekt Red also touched on the Cyberpunk 2077 weapons and how players will defend themselves in-game. According to the developer, every weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 will affect your playstyle including guns, Cyberware items such as Mantis Blades and limb extensions, melee weapons and throwables.

Cyberpunk 2077 includes Power Weapons which are the most traditional form of firearms. The first Power Weapon type seems to be “slug throwers”. These guns ricochet bullets around corners for indirect fire. Next, we have Tech weapons including rail guns which use magnets to shoot heavy rounds at high velocity to punch through walls and even knock large enemies off their feet. Smart weapons track enemies using guided rockets that can track targets behind cover. Players can shoot at enemies while they are taking cover and the bullets will loop around and above it to hit them.

The three weapon categories span different weapon types. For example, a shotgun can come with the slug shot that is powerful enough to blow enemies in half. On the other hand, you can also get a shotgun with targeting ammo that can target half a dozen enemies with a single trigger pull. The slug shotgun is bought from Budget Arms while the targeting ammo type is from Kang Tao.

Cyberpunk 2077 weapons are also customizable across two mod types. Players can change attachments which range from scopes and silencers. They also change the appearance of your weapon. Software mods, on the other hand, change the workings of each weapon. Things like fire rate, damage type and even the damage output are altered through software mods.

We then have melee weapons which look just as great. The trailer shows off an awesome-looking katana as the player sliced and dices enemies in front of him. When it comes to Cyberware, these body attachments change the gameplay adding new takedowns and melee combat options in-game. The Mantis Blades lets players slice and stab enemies. The Gorilla Arms are powerful punching arms that can knock enemies off their feet. The projectile Launch System lets players shoot rockets out of their arms.

As for Cyberpunk 2077 weapon rarity, they come in a range of different tiers. Players can find common, uncommon, rare, and legendary. The rarer the weapon, the harder it is to find. Legendary weapons also contain special traits not found in other tiers. In addition, these traits cannot be purchased at vendors. Legendary weapons are not sold at shops either. Players need to find them by either scouting the world, killing an NPC with it or complete challenging questlines.

Check out the weapons in action down below and prepare for Cyberpunk 2077 launching on 19 November 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
