Cyberpunk 2077 Will Get a Free Robust PS5 and Xbox Series X Upgrade in 2021

CD Projekt RED delayed the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 but that does not mean they don’t have the game’s launch plans and next-gen release in mind. Now that Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing in November instead of September, the situation has changed when it comes to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

During a conference call, the studio confirmed that the game will release playable for PS5 and Xbox Series X in November.  We don’t know yet when these consoles plan on releasing but Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on them when they do. In addition, the game will also look better than it does on PS4 and Xbox One.

In 2021, the game will then receive a “more robust” next-gen upgrade. We don’t know what this will do but it could deliver a more-enhanced visual experience which will take advantage of the power in the next-gen consoles.

It has also been confirmed that users who purchase Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 or Xbox One will get a free upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X version of the game. This version will then be upgraded in 2021 to a next-gen experience. CD Projekt Red has not announced when this upgrade will release.

Stay tuned next week as the developer plans on showcasing more gameplay during a special Night City Wire stream on 25 June 2020.
