Cyberpunk 2077’s Story Can be Finished Without Killing Anyone

During Microsoft’s E3 press conference, some really cool things happened and the best of it all was definitely the Cyberpunk 2077 release date reveal and Keanu Reeves not only appearing in the game’s latest trailer but also on the stage in real life. We are all extremely excited for CD Projekt’s next big game and now, we’ve learned that you will be able to complete the Cyberpunk 2077 story without killing a single NPC.

Speaking to PC Gamer at E3 2019 during a live demonstration, CD Projekt confirmed that you will be able to finish the Cyberpunk 2077 story without killing a single NPC. This was reportedly a change that the team made to the game after fan feedback and it is awesome to hear that the developer is giving players this non-lethal option.

Quest designer Paweł Sasko explained that nearly every weapon and cyberware has a non-lethal option for players to use, but there are some exceptions, like shooting someone’s head off with a bazooka. Some weapons are just lethal by nature and won’t have a non-lethal option. Mr Sasko explained that:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#33ffe9″ class=”” size=”22″] I think I can say everything. There’s one thing: only weapons that are lethal by definition, so let’s say you shoot someone with a bazooka in his face. You shoot his head off. That’s typically lethal.

But everything else actually has a nonlethal option. Pretty much every gun, pretty much every cyberware, you’re able to use in a nonlethal way. You’re able to knock them down, choke them, make them sleep and so on. There are ways not to kill them and spare them, like the way you could do with Sasquatch, the boss. [/perfectpullquote]

Every single time I hear something about Cyberpunk 2077 I just get more hyped and giving players such freedom of choice is an excellent move by the developer. Cyberpunk 2077 releases on 16 April 2020 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and I simply can’t wait to play it, but probably not with the non-lethal options all the way through as completing Cyberpunk 2077’s story without killing anyone will likely be very difficult.
