Dark Souls 3 PC Servers Online Features From Software

Dark Souls 3 Gets Seamless Co-Op Mod on PC

Dark Souls 3 continues to be quite popular in the From Software community, known for its fast-paced combat (at least relative to previous games) and its superb bosses. Unfortunately, while the game does have co-op, it’s quite limited as players can only summon friends and others during boss fights before they’re banished back to their own worlds. However, a new PC mod has now introduced seamless co-op to the game.

Created by modder Yuri, the Dark Souls 3 seamless co-op mode is currently available to download on Nexus Mods. However, Yuri warns that it’s still in alpha form. “If you are looking for a bug free experience, you won’t find it in this version,” they said. Nonetheless, the idea behind it is solid. Unlike the original game which severely limits the kind of co-op gameplay you can experience, this mod makes it so that up to six players can complete a single playthrough together without being banished back to their own worlds.

When a player dies, the session won’t end. Instead, they’ll be sent to the nearest bonfire in the same world and will have to wait until the boss is either defeated by the remaining players or until they rest at the nearest bonfire before the player can hop back into the action. Furthermore, all progression is shared between players’ worlds. The mod even goes as far as syncing up NPC dialogue scenes.

Up to six players sounds like it could make the game very easy, though the mod includes an option to tinker the difficulty so that it scales better with more players. The seamless co-op mod is currently in its alpha form so expect quite a few bugs and for things to not exactly work properly yet, though we can’t wait for the finished product.

In related news, rumours surfaced last year about a potential remaster of Dark Souls 3 being in development. Since then, we’ve heard nothing about it.
