Dauntless is getting a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade this week. The free-to-play Monster Hunter clone will receive a robust visual overhaul that not only increases the resolution to 4K but also adds a whole new lighting system, 60FPS and enhanced textures. The upgrade is set to arrive on 2 December.
Developer Pheonix Labs says that players on PS4 and Xbox One can automatically download the new enhanced version of Dauntless and transfer their progress across to the game. This is all done through a server so you won’t need to manually upload your saves to do so. The new Dauntless upgrade also comes with cross-platform support across PS4, PS5, Switch, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
The Dauntless PS5 upgrade also comes with some nifty console-exclusive features. Pheonix Labs says players can enjoy DualSense support that includes haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The speaker on the controller can also output sound effects now while you’re playing the game. Dauntless is also getting 3D Audio support on the PS5 and Activity Cards will let players instantly jump into hunts from their PS5 home screen.
As for the enhanced features, Dauntless will now run at an adaptive 4K 60FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Xbox Series S owners can enjoy adaptive 1440p 60FPS. All three platforms will benefit from 90% faster load time as well as 36 new trophies and achievements to earn. The other visual changes include:
- Experience exceptionally improved visuals on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This includes everything from beautiful new lighting and atmospheres, improved view distance, volumetric fog and other effects, to reworked environment textures, trees, water, grass, and higher quality shadows.
Slayers, the day you have been waiting for is finally close. December 2 will mark the official native launch of Dauntless on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This launch brings seamless cross-generation and full cross-platform support to Dauntless across seven different platforms!
After the launch, PlayStation 5 players can claim and download the enhanced version of Dauntless for free from the PlayStation Store. Players on Xbox Series X|S will automatically receive the enhanced version of Dauntless via Smart Delivery.
If you are already playing Dauntless on a console or PC, there will be no need to start over on your next-gen console. True cross-progression means that your progress carries over across all platforms you play on. With full cross-play, it also does not matter which platform your friends play on — everyone can slay Behemoths together.
