Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul is coming to Dead by Daylight as a killer. That’s a sentence I didn’t think I’d ever type, but developer Behaviour Interactive announced yesterday that the iconic anime protagonist will be the next playable killer in its online asymmetric multiplayer game.
Players can get their hands on next killer Ken Kaneki, the protagonist of the popular manga and anime Tokyo Ghoul, on 2 April in Dead by Daylight. Kaneki will have a unique set of moves including the ability to damage survivors and turn a Dull Totem into a Hex Totem, which hinders survivors when they are hit with a basic attack. To make Kaneki even more imposing, survivors gain a token (up to eight) whenever they are hit, increasing the killer’s speed and mobility. Kaneki can also acquire a token whenever he hooks survivors for the first time.
This marks Dead by Daylight‘s next crossover in a series of recurring collaborations with various pop culture franchises. Some notable crossovers in the past include Silent Hill, The Ring, Stranger Things, Alan Wake, Dungeons & Dragons and Resident Evil, among others. Behaviour Interactive already confirmed a Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration which will arrive sometime in 2025, possibly to align with the release of the movie sequel this October.
Behaviour Interactive describes the character in its latest site post:
“When one is pushed to the brink of pain, subjected to cruelty beyond measure, it’s only a matter of time before one finds renewed purpose in the abyss. In the process of surviving his brutal torture at the hands of Jason, Kaneki came to terms with the terrifying nature of the ghoul within him, using it to defeat his tormentor. His release from one nightmare saw him pulled directly into another, as The Entity chose this moment to lure Kaneki into The Fog, transforming him into a cruel killing machine. Everything from his appearance to his demeanor has been affected, fueled by an insatiable appetite for human flesh. As fate would have it, there will be plenty to feast on in The Fog…”
Ken Kaneki seeks human flesh in Dead by Daylight on 2 April 2025. The game is currently available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
