Motion Twin and Evil Empire have wrapped up content development for the popular Dead Cells game. The last update headed to the game is Update 35 called “The End is Near”. It is a free update that adds new weapons, enemies and 40 head customizations to the game.
Sadly, this is literally the end for Dead Cells. It marks the game’s impressive 10-year cycle which kicked off back in 2014 when development started on the roguelite. It was then released in 2018 and has had 35 game updates and various DLC packs released since. Not to mention the game’s cross-over collaborations.
Update 35 should keep players busy for a while at least. The new enemies are called The Sore Loser, Curser and Doom Bringer. They only appear in the game if your Boss Cells level is high enough.
The new weapons then include Misericorde and Anathema. They are high-damage weapons but also curse players at the same time. There are also new mutations including the Cursed Flask, Damned Vigor and Demonic Strength.
You can watch the new content in action below. Motion Twin have expressed their gratitude to players of Dead Cells for support over seven years of content.
Of course, Evil Empire is currently working on the The Rogue Prince of Persia which will hopefully get the same content love in the years ahead. The game is currently in early access and has received a number of game updates since I reviewed the build a few weeks back.
If you’re looking for a new rogue-lite to scratch that itch after finishing off Dead Cells, keep it in mind. Find it on Steam here.
As for Motion Twin, the team is currently working on Windblown. The rogue-lite is also headed to early access by the end of 2024. The game is a top-down, lightning-fast roguelite set in a refreshing new world.
