Dead Island 2 is officially out today for consoles and PC and after nearly a decade of hype and anticipation, fans can finally get their hands on the long-awaited sequel. Most players might be wondering how long it will take to beat the game’s main campaign as well as additional side content and what’s the level cap. Fans will be happy to know that the campaign isn’t going to demand too much of your time as you climb to the level cap.
During our review process of Dead Island 2, we estimated that it will take 20 hours to beat the campaign as well as a good amount of side quests. However, if you strictly focus on the main story, you’ll likely complete it in under 15 hours. For 100% completionists, it may take just over 25 hours to clear absolutely everything. After the main story ends, you can return to the game and clear up all remaining Lost and Found missions, collect outstanding weapons and finish unresolved quests.

As for the level cap in Dead Island 2, the game is currently capped at level 30. This might change if future expansions or DLC introduce an increased level cap but for now, you’ll have to work your way up to the level 30 cap by completing the main story as well as side objectives, activities and quests.
In related news, owners of the base model PS4 and Xbox One unfortunately won’t be able to host online co-op sessions in Dead Island 2 but can join other sessions hosted by either PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, PS5 or Xbox Series X/S players thanks to cross-gen support. Developer Dambuster Studios says it’s currently working to fix this issue.
