Dead Island 2 is officially headed to Steam in April after the year-long exclusivity contract with Epic Games comes to an end. The game launched back in April 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. However, the PC launch was locked to the Epic Games Store.
On 22 April, Dead Island 2 will go on sale on Steam so those who refuse to purchase anything on the Epic Games Store can buy it there instead.
To celebrate the launch, Dambuster is also giving away free copies of Dead Island Riptide. The game is completely free on Steam right now. You only have until 15 February to get the game so you better hurry. Other Dead Island games are also heavily discounted on the store too.
Dead Island 2 exceeded expectations at launch according to Dambuster. The game sold one million copies in three days. It then went on to sell two million copies within its first month on sale. We don’t know how many game sales Dead Island 2 has had since.
In my review, I praise Dead Island 2’s great combat but the game’s lack of variety left me with cool weapons and nothing to use them on once I completed the story. However, it is a decent zombie smasher and you can get the Platinum Trophy within 20-25 hours.
Dead Island 2 is also expected to get its second DLC pack sometime this year called SOLA Festival. The first DLC pack titled HAUS, released in November.
