Disney and Marvel Studios have once again shuffled around its release schedule and delayed several MCU movies to 2025 and beyond. According to the new schedule, Deadpool 3 will be the only MCU movie released in 2024. The movie, which was originally set to arrive on 3 May next year, will now release in cinemas on 26 July instead.
Captain America: Brave New World was moved out of its original 26 July 2024 release date and will now arrive on 14 February 2025. Meanwhile, Thunderbolts, which was scheduled for 20 December 2024, has a new date of 25 July 2025. Additionally, Blade, which was initially meant to release on 14 February 2025, has also been pushed back to 7 November 2025. Fantastic Four remains slated to release on 2 May 2025, meaning there will be four MCU projects released in 2025.

As a result, Deadpool 3 will stand alone as the only MCU movie to release in 2024. Disney and Marvel Studios will likely lean into its MCU television shows for most of next year to fill in the empty calendar. After the mixed reception of the recently-released The Marvels (and a handful of negatively reviewed MCU movies released over the last few years like Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), a break is exactly what Marvel’s currently disorganised cinematic universe really needs right now.
The story synopsis for Deadpool 3 reads:
“A weary Wolverine finds himself recovering from his injuries when he comes across a loudmouth Deadpool who has time travelled forward to heal his greatest pal in the hopes to befriend the wild beast and to team up to take down a foe they both have in common.”
Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood, reports surfaced last month that Disney was preparing to delay Deadpool 3. It’s just a slight delay by a few months, it seems, as production can resume as normal after a deal was apparently struck between the actors union and Hollywood executives yesterday.
Deadpool 3 now releases in cinemas on 26 July 2024.
