Deadpool Hijacks Marvel’s Midnight Suns Social Media to Get a Role in The Game

Marvel’s Midnight Suns, the upcoming tactical role-playing game from XCOM developer Firaxis Games and publisher 2K Games, is ramping up its marketing as its December release date approaches. However, the marketing is taking a pretty cool and unique direction by making it seem as if Deadpool has hijacked the game’s social media desparately seeking to get a role in the game.

Deadpool has hacked Marvel’s Midnight Suns‘ official Twitter account in an attempt to get a role in the game (which seems all but confirmed judging by this marketing stunt). “DEADPOOL here! I have taken COMPLETE control of this channel until these nerds put me in their Midnight Suns game,” said a tweet. “Let’s get messy…”

The merc with a mouth is scribbling over the game’s official screenshots and inserting a badly drawn image of himself into the pictures. He’s also leaking several DLC characters until Firaxis Games gives into his demands. The first character he leaked was X-Men member Storm, who will be arriving in the game sometime after launch. Deadpool says he has more leaks to share, so expect more DLC characters to be “leaked” in the coming months.

Marvel's Midnight Suns Deadpool Social Media

As far as marketing stunts go for video games, this one’s pretty cool. It also fits with Deadpool’s tendency to break the fourth wall. Firaxis Games is most certainly behind the clever stunt, but the developer is making it seem like the character has somehow infiltrated our reality and is holding the game’s social media accounts to ransom until he gets a part as a playable superhero in the game. At this point, Deadpool is absolutely confirmed for Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns launched on 2 December 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions will launch at a later date.
