Death Stranding 2 will definitely launch in 2025. However, at the moment we don’t know exactly when. Hideo Kojima says the date has been set internally at the studio and he is currently preparing for it.
Kojima says fans of the game won’t get that release date this year. During the Death Stranding 2 presentation at TGS, he confirmed that the studio will only unveil the sequel’s release date in 2025. So don’t expect to see the release date announced at The Game Awards or any upcoming events this year.
“I didn’t announce the release date today, but it has been decided, and we are currently preparing for it. There are different timings for the release. Since we’re targeting 2025, it will launch next year, and we’ll announce the exact date at some point next year. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we cannot reveal it today. As I mentioned earlier, we’re still working on the game—it’s not finished yet—but I’m feeling really good about it.”
We know that Death Stranding 2 is officially called “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” and will launch exclusively on PS5. The first game, however, was also released on PC and even iOS and macOS soon after its release. Kojima will likely follow the same process for the sequel.
Kojima Productions is also working on another game at the moment called O.D which is a horror title for Xbox. By the sound of things, Death Stranding 2 is the top priority at the studio. It features a star-studded cast including Elle Fanning, Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux and George Miller. If you haven’t watched the latest trailer, check it out below.
