Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is out today on PS5 and players are making their way through Hideo Kojima’s latest open world action-adventure game. Along the way, players might encounter a few head-scratching moments that warrant a bit of investigation to proceed. One such riddle involves acquiring a secret four-digit code for the Motherhood door, which you can stumble upon during the main quest about midway through the game. Here’s how to unlock that door.
Episode 7 of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will require you to deliver cargo to a specific location called The Motherhood. For spoiler reasons, we won’t be talking in any detail about it but it plays a pretty significant role in the game’s story. Upon arriving at The Motherhood, you won’t be able to access the terminal because you’ll be confronted by a locked door requiring a four-digit code to proceed. The game sort of gives you hints but it doesn’t outright spell the solution.
As it turns out, Kojima Productions found a pretty clever way to integrate some real-world information into the game. When you first boot up Death Stranding 2, you’re asked to enter your birth date in MMDD format. Depending on what you initially punched in, this is the code to unlock the Motherhood door. Yes, your own real-world birth date is the code.
If you decided to just spam a bunch of numbers so you can get into the game faster, you’re left with a conundrum now if you forgot what you entered. Luckily, the correct code can also be found in the game’s menu. Open up your Corpus, navigate to Databank, and unhide the Motherhood code to reveal the four digits.
