Death Stranding 2 was announced during the 2022 Game Awards show. The trailer revealed the game’s title as a simple number “2”. However, we knew the official name would change according to Kojima. The creator also confirmed a while back that Death Stranding 2’s story had to be completely redone as an effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic changed Kojima’s mindset around the theme of “connections”. As a result, the story was changed to fit his new vision. We currently don’t know what that is.
The original Death Stranding did incredibly well for Sony and Kojima Productions. The game surpassed 16 million players across all platforms. It also got a dedicated PS5 version titled “Death Stranding – The Director’s Cut” which featured new content and cutscenes.
A24 has announced a Death Stranding live-action film is in the works at the production company as a result. It seems like the Death Stranding name isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“The film promises to delve into the mysteries surrounding the apocalyptic event called the ‘Death Stranding,’ which blurred the lines between life and death, and brought forth nightmarish creatures into a world on the brink of collapse,”
We’ll have to wait and see what Kojima has in store for fans as the sequel’s content will be detailed in the coming weeks.
