Death Stranding 2 might be heading to The Game Awards 2023. The long-awaited sequel to the 2019 game from creator Hideo Kojima was first unveiled last year as “DS2” (working title) with an enigmatic teaser trailer that shows a possible continuation of the story from the first game. The silence might finally be broken as some deleted tweets seem to point to The Game Awards in December as when we can expect a new trailer.
Kojima first posted a tweet last week stating that he was in the process of “mixing” something, accompanied by images of audio equipment. The official Twitter/X account for The Game Awards replied to this tweet with the eyes emoji. This would be harmless as The Game Awards and its host, Geoff Keighley, have a pretty good relationship with Hideo Kojima and could just be anticipating the “mix”. However, the eyes emoji tweet from The Game Awards has since been deleted, stirring up plenty of speculation online that it was more than just a friendly exchange.
It’s unclear why The Game Awards chose to suddenly delete the tweet but it’s now the subject of some intense speculation from the community that Kojima’s “mix” tease is actually a new trailer for Death Stranding 2 which will be shown at the awards show.

Back in August, Kojima explained why he chose to rewrite the story of Death Stranding 2 following the global pandemic. The first game places a huge emphasis on society reconnecting in a post-apocalyptic setting where humans have been separated and isolated from each other (quite prophetic, if you ask us).
Reports from last year claimed that Death Stranding 2 might be Kojima’s last PlayStation exclusive. The creator is currently also working with Xbox on a new, mysterious Cloud-based game. Kojima Productions is also working on a new horror game titled Overdose, though it’s not known if this is related to the Xbox project.
