Following a recent string of teases by the PC Game Pass Twitter account, developer Kojima Productions and publisher 505 Games has now officially confirmed that Death Stranding is coming to the subscription service. The game will be available on 23 August at 5pm PT or 2am SAST the following morning.
Earlier this week, the official Twitter account for PC Game Pass began updating its profile pictures with seemingly random landscape pictures. Upon closer inspection, fans managed to deduce that they were actually screenshots taken in Death Stranding. The account updated its profile picture a few more times before finally giving players a confirmation.
The announcement was recently made via an image of Death Stranding protagonist Sam Porter Bridges (played by Norman Reedus) carrying some cargo with a label on it, confirming the game’s arrival and date.
Death Stranding originally released in November 2019 for PS4 before making its way to PC under the publishing duties of 505 Games. It also received a PS5 upgrade through the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, which added new expanded story content, features and more.
This is exciting news for players as it means that PC Game Pass subscribers will now get to enjoy Hideo Kojima’s truly bizarre and wonderful experimental video game. Unfortunately, the title hasn’t been confirmed yet for Xbox consoles so don’t expect it to arrive on Xbox Game Pass anytime soon.
Xbox is teaming up with Hideo Kojima to create a new Cloud-based game, though details on this particular project are scarce. Some fans believe that it has to do with the previously leaked Kojima Productions horror game Overdose, which will star Death Stranding actress Margaret Qualley. It’s possible that these two projects are unconnected too.
Death Stranding comes to PC Game Pass on 23 August 2022.
